The rules for using an e-scooter in Madrid
As a driver of an electric scooter in Madrid, you follow the same traffic rules as cyclists. In addition, you need to consider the following conditions:
- The minimum age for using an e-scooter is 15 years;
- Possession of a driving licence is not compulsory;
- The use of a helmet is compulsory;
- A reflective safety vest is mandatory in bad weather and in the dark;
- You use the cycle path. If the cycle path is missing, you use the carriageway;
- You cannot ride two people on one electric scooter;
- You must not drive on the pavement, in tunnels or in pedestrian areas;
- The use of a phone, headphones or wireless earphones during the ride is prohibited.

There are two ways to rent an electric scooter:
- Rent a scooter for a day(part) through a local rental company. In some cases, you have the option to book this in combination with a tour.
