Rent an electric scooter in Lisbon? Here’s how to do it
Since 2019, tourists can use an electric shared scooter in Lisbon. Download an app, scan the QR code on the vehicle and you are ready for the ride. This allows you to ride at your own pace to various highlights, such as the ‘Ponte 25 de Abril’ and ‘Torre de Belém’.

The rules for using an e-scooter in Lisbon
As a driver of an electric scooter in Lisbon, you follow the same rules as cyclists. In addition, you should take the following into account:
- It is not compulsory to wear a helmet;
- It is not allowed to drive on the pavement;
- You do not need to hold a driving licence;
- You cannot ride two people on one e-scooter;
- From the law, there is no minimum age set for using an e-scooter;
- You use the cycle path and when it is not present, you use the carriageway;
- A maximum speed of 25 km/h applies. This is also the maximum speed of a share scooter;
- It is not allowed to use a phone, headphones or wireless earphones while driving.

Cost: £0.88 for unlocking and £0.088 per minute for using it
