The rules for using an e-scooter in Munich
Do you go out with the e-Tretroller, or electric scooter, in Munich? Then in most cases you will follow the same rules as cyclists. In addition, keep in mind the following exceptions:
- The minimum age to use an e-scooter is 14 years;
- There is no driving licence requirement;
- The use of a helmet is not compulsory, but is advised;
- You must ride your e-scooter on the cycle path, if there is one. Otherwise, you use the carriageway;
- Driving in pedestrian areas or on the pavement is prohibited;
- Alcohol is banned for young people up to 21 years of age. For those aged 21 or over, the maximum limit is 0.5 promille.
